Abstract
We have approached a clinical application of cell therapy of human corneal endothelial cells for patients of corneal failures. We have tried to cultured human corneal endothelial cells on a thermo-responsive surface and transplant the cells by harvesting them as a whole sheet after decreasing the temperature to 21 îC. The whole monolayer cell sheet by this tissue engineering method can be delivered to the anterior chamber and the posterior surface of stroma by a gelatin disc. The transplanted monolayer of human corneal endothelial cells can remain a functional and structural normality for at least 2 weeks in the animal model.
